Agriculture is one of the highest contributors to Kenya’s gross domestic product-GDP. The project is aimed at increasing agricultural productivity, improve livihoods of rural communities as well as create employment.
World Bank agricultural economist Ladisy Komba Chengula, has stated that this project will be a highly participatory project as it will use various communities to make decisions about the production and also get to benefit from the results.
The project was launched in Embu town where the World Bank will provide 200 US dollars while 19 US dollars funding will come from the counties and national government.
The project will run for 38 years with a grace period of 6 years.
