Direct Flights from Nairobi- New York by KQ

Kenya Airways (KQ) will have daily flights from Nairobi to New York as from October 28th 2018 .
This comes after the airline KQ and the airport JKIA (Jomo Kenyatta International Airport) got the required approvals. In September 2017, the airline was granted approval to operate flights in the United States by the department of transportation while JKIA in the same year was granted category one by the US Federal Aviation Administration after the airport upgraded its security features.
Direct flights from JKIA to New York JFK will reduce the time flight from 25 hours to about 15 hours.
This move is expected to boast the tourism sector and increase earnings by 10% by 2019.
KQ Chairman Michael Joseph has termed this move as an important milestone as the airline moves back to sustain its profits after financial restructuring.
Subsequent flights for the inaugural flight has started selling for KSH 87,000 ($869).
The direct flights will be of benefit to various countries such as Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Mauritius, South Sudan and Ethiopia.
