Six people Killed in a Mandera Attack
Six people were killed on Thursday 6th October 2016 in Mandera, while 27 others were rescued after being attacked by suspected Al shabaab militants. The early morning attack targeted a residential building occupied by 33 non-locals near Bula Public Works in Mandera. The attack lasted for less than ten minutes.
The northern regional coordinator Mohamud Saleh stated that the attackers threw explosives into the building and proceeded to fire randomly. The attackers fled towards Bula Hawa about a kilometer away. “security officers have taken charge of the situation and things are back to normal’’ stated Saleh. He further urged Mandera residents to volunteer information that could be helpful concerning the attack.Bodies of the six have been identified , however it not clear if burial expenses will be catered for by the state.Mandera governor Ali Roba condemned the attack and condoled with the families of the deceased.
